Bo and Jo
![]() The bo and jo were some of the most frequently used weapons. The bo was a six-foot staff, and the jo was a four foot staff. They were both very useful for attacking and defending. The bo was often more than it seemed to be- it was sometimes hollowed out, and then poisoned darts or small knives were fitted inside. When fighting, these could be flung out at tremendous speeds. In so doing, you could injure your opponent while he wasn’t expecting it, and do great damage or even kill him before coming within the range of the bo. Chains were also hidden inside, and they could be flung out to capture the opponents weapon. The jo was shorter than the bo, and was easier to carry when traveling long distances. It was not often used to hold any secret weapons. Both the bo and jo were used to inflict serious internal damage when fighting. They could easily break bones, cause internal bleeding or bruises, and stun someone when fighting.
